  1. What do I need to do to sign up for internet service?
    Since you are at our website you can sign up by clicking here or you can come into any one of our locations and fill out an application. Top of Page

    Yes, It will cost an extra $2.50 per account per month.Top of Page

  3. Is your internet service unlimited?
    Yes Top of Page

  4. Is the dial up number long distance?
    Our dial up number is (815) 933 - 0944 so you will need to check with your phone company if you are not sure if that would be long distance for you or not. Top of Page

  5. Can I sign up over the phone?
    No, you will need to either sign-up and print the manual set up instructions from our website or you will need to pick up an application and installation insructions at one of our offices.

  6. Can I have the Daily Journal internet set up on more than one computer?
    Yes, but you will not be able to have them connected to the internet at the same time. If you use them one at a time to connect you should be fine. Top of Page

  7. Can I use callwave with your internet service or any other type of internet answering service?
    Yes, callwave does work with our service and any other answering service should work also. If not please give us a call at (815) 937 - 3332 Top of Page

  8. Can I pay for both the paper and internet at the same time?
    No, our billing programs are not the same so you will have to send two separate payments, one for the paper and one for the internet. You can set up your account to bill from a credit card each month if you do not want to receive a bill. You can also pay your bill at any one of our locations by cash, credit card or check. If you pay for 6 months in advance you will receive a 3% discount and if you pay by the year you will receive a 5% discount. Top of Page

  9. If I subscribe to the Sunday only am I still eligible for the journal subscriber rate?
    Yes, you are eligible for the 9.95 subscriber rate. Top of Page

  10. Can I get a refund if I am not happy with the service?
    Yes, you can but ONLY if you cancel before the 15th. We bill at the first of the month every month so if you are not happy with the service please call and let us know so we can do all we can to resolve the issue for you.   11. Does the journal filter any websites?
    No, we do not filter any of the content available on the internet. We offer unlimited internet access and that is what you get. Top of Page

  12. Can the journal do anything about junk mail or spam?
    We use the GPL filter spamassassin. This is a text matching system that marks suspected SPAM and you can setup rules in your email program to put spam in its own folder. However, we still suggest that you not give out your email address to online forms unless it is absolutely necessary. If junk email gets overwhelming we can easily change your email address, just give us a call at (815) 937 - 3332 and let us know what new email username you would like to use. Top of Page

  13. Does your ISP offer tech support?
    Yes, during office hours we offer tech support. The office hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, you can give us a call at (815) 937 - 3332. We do not charge for tech support. Top of Page

  14. Do I need anti-virus with your service?
    No, but we highly recommend any type of anti-virus be on your computer if you are planning to go online. There are viruses everywhere and can be easily picked up, downloaded and passed on to others! Top of Page

  15. Can I check my email if I am away from home?
    Yes, but you will have to dial in using a local ISP. Once you are connected you will need to open your email program and change the incoming mail server to mail.daily-journal.com and leave the outgoing mail server set up to your local ISP. If you have any questions about this please call (815) 937 - 3332 and we'll help you out! We do plan to offer web based e-mail in the near future. Please check back to find out the status of webmail.

  16. Can I change my username or password?
    Yes, just give us a call at (815) 937 - 3332 and we will get them changed for you. You will have to change them on your computer so please ask if you do not know how to do this. Top of Page

  17. Do I need to type in my password every time?
    No, there should be a little box below where your password is entered and it should say 'Save Password'. After you have typed in your correct password in lowercase letters put a check mark in the box and it will save for next time. Top of Page

  18. Do you have to have 2 phone lines to get your internet service?
    No, 1 phone line is enough, but while you are online you will not be able to use the phone unless you have it set to disconnect when a phone call comes in otherwise it will give the caller a busy signal. Top of Page
